eMed is a subscription or pay-per-appointment private GP service. If you use the private service you’ll stay registered with your current NHS GP practice. An eMed membership will give you instant access to a doctor, therapist or specialist, 24/7 through video or phone consultation. eMed clinicians are able to issue private prescriptions and private referrals if necessary. They are not able to issue NHS referrals or NHS prescriptions.
You’ll have to pay for an eMed subscription unless you get access through your insurer or employer.
You can find eMed price plans on the pricing page.
GP at Hand is a digital-first NHS GP practice. If you register with GP at Hand, your NHS GP registration will switch over from your current NHS GP practice.
Once registered, you'll have access to book a video appointment with a healthcare professional using the eMed app. You can speak to GPs, Physiotherapists, Prescribing Pharmacists and Advanced Nurse Practitioners. Consultations are available 24/7 and you can choose an appointment time that suits you. You’ll have access to the same essential services you’d receive from any NHS GP practice, as well as other enhanced services. This includes prescriptions, referrals and face-to-face appointments at any of our clinics.
The service is free for all patients who register with GP at Hand as their NHS GP practice.

Some members will have both eMed and GP at Hand memberships. For example, they may have registered for GP at Hand as their primary NHS GP practice and also receive eMed Private as an employee or insurer benefit. You can switch between these membership types depending on which one you would like to use.
